Children's Programs
PRESCHOOL -- KINDER -- SCHOOL AGE (6-11 YRS) -- PRE-TEEN
My Approach
Relationship
When children feel a strong connection to their teachers, they feel safe to explore, create, and play. They grow! Relationship is at the centre of my approach.
Process, not Product
We create together in every class I run, with the emphasis always on the process of creating, not on the product that we create. Children are given opportunities to share what they've created as they are comfortable. Sharing our ideas with one another builds community.
All Bodies and Abilities
No experience required. Everyone can dance. No right or wrong way to dance. We explore our ideas, feelings, and experiences through movement. We each have unique ways of expressing ourselves.
Multi-arts
I weave visual art, storytelling, drama and other arts exercises into my classes. I select a wide range of music that encourages self-expression and that is culturally diverse.
Small Class Sizes
Classes are capped at twelve participants, which allows for your child to establish strong relationships with me and the other children in class.
Comfortable Clothing
We wear clothing that feels comfortable to move in. We dance barefoot (when indoors and/or seasonably appropriate)!
Acknowledgements
This approach evolved from years of training and mentorship with award-winning author and educator, Hannah Beach, whose work using the arts to support children's social and emotional growth has been deeply inspirational for me.
